PAN, The Horned God of Greece

Pan is not an Olympian, but he is a well known deity and probably one of the most misunderstood and lied about ones. Unfortunately for Pan, the coming of Christian mythology would produce a very disrespectful and false label for him. Pan is a Faun, and a nature God of Greece. Many Witches, Wiccans, Pagans and Occultists know who he is, and some work with him and are very involved in his worship. For us, Pan is a nature God, always was, and still is. When the Christians began producing their myths, they had to find their God an adversary, and they found Gods like Pan and labeled him as Satan. That's why Satan is depicted with horns among other reasons. The Christians made up Satan and in many ways made him to look monsterous and evil to scare the crap out of people. But in fact, the Bible never speaks of Satan being a monster. In fact, the Bible says he is handsome. He was the most beautiful of all the angels. Satan, of course, is not real though. However, the Christians wanted to re-paint the Pagan Gods in a way that would make them seem evil and Satanic and Demonic. Pan did and does have horns, but that has nothing to do with his purpose. So Pan was never Satan, he was never evil, he was never an enemy of mankind, or any God as far as I know.

So if you hear someone tell you that Pan is Satan, it's a lie made up by the Christians to disgrace the Gods. We will be doing a radio show about Pan on March 28th, at 6pm Eastern on The Pillars Of Greece http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ThePillarsOfGreece I hope you will all join in.

Faery Magick

Faeries can be very powerful. So much so that many cultures have feared them for ages. I have always loved to study Faeries and how to work with them, and there is a tradition of Wicca called Faery Wicca. While I am not Wiccan, I have decided that one of my paths will be my dedication to the study and practice of Faery Magick as a Wizard. In my belief system, Goddess Artemis is also the Goddess of Faeries, so the belief in the Fae is certianly not something that is absent from the ancient Greek religion and culture. The God Pan is also associated with Faeries. Of course, I practice many other forms of Magick, but Faery Magick seems to be a great new interest of mine. I am becoming more and more Earth-Based with my Magick as I love the Earth. I even created a facebook group called Children of Mother Earth if you want to check it out.

I think that there are too many Witches, Wizards and Pagans who underestimate the benefits and wisdom of Faeries and Faery Magick. Granted, I have only heard one Witch imply that it was idiotic to believe in Faeries, but I also think that Faeries don't get as much focus on them as they should. I used to not believe in Faeries, and I don't think Anastasia believed in them until her and her whole coven saw them. So many people have seen Faeries and experienced their magick and wisdom. And I think it would be a terrible mistake to not give them a chance in your life. I think that Faeries are among the most enchanting and mysterious of Earthly beings. But it's also about who you feel a connection to as well. You may not feel any connection to Faeries, and that's ok, but if you do feel one, don't neglect it.

From my studies, not all Faeries are friendly to humans though, you do want to know which ones to contact and which ones not to. Which ones to invite into your life, and which ones to keep out. I always suggest the book "A Witch's Guide To Faery Folk" by Edain McCoy because in the back there is a large list of Faeries that you can contact and those you should not. A wise Witch or Wizard knows where to tread and where not to. But this is not a big deal, just don't contact the Faeries that are not advised for contact, it's that simple. Only contact the ones that are friendly to humans. A relationship with the Fae can be very fulfilling and magickal. There's also another good book I am reading called "Enchantment of the Faery Realm" by Ted Andrews. You might also pick up that one.

I do hope that my relations with the Fae will grow into a powerful and friendly partnership.

My Ideal Afterlife

I have been thinking about the afterlife I would want if I could choose it. As you know, I believe very much in reincarnation and Faeries, and some believe that Faeries are reincarnations of the dead or a class of the dead. If I could choose my afterlife, I would want to be reincarnated as a Faery, either a Gnome or a winged Faery that we commonly think of when we hear the word. There are many kinds of Faeries with many names. I believe the winged Faeries are called Pixies. I would want to be either one after I die, to reincarnate into the Faery Realm. Some of you may ask why it is that this would be my ideal life after this one.

Those who know me, know that I love Faeries and I believe in them very strongly. Even though some people have made fun of me for it, and even though it takes a big, secure man to admit he believes in Faeries, many people of my religious community have commended me for being open about it. To me, Faeries are wonderful, charming magickal beings. I love nature, I love to have fun, and I love Magick. Faeries love these things too. To me, being a Faery would be such a beautiful life. I could have access to the most beautiful and magickal parts of nature herself. I could gain so much more knowledge and discover the secrets that we are unable to find as humans.I would also be able to shapeshift and more easily interact with other Faeries and spiritual beings of nature.

Describing my Ideal Afterlife:
As the light of Artemis gently fills the night sky over the beautiful mountians and woods of Asheville, North Carolina, I emerge from the waters themselves, my aura sparkling all around my tiny body. I flutter my wings to dry them off and I land next to the cool grass, a rock and a tree where flowers and mushrooms grow all around it. This is my own secret nature spot, a place touched by my magick, a place where I enjoy mother nature. Here, all things are possible, and all with good will are welcome. There, behind a flower, my true love Anastasia, who also came with me to the Faery realm, waits for me. She laughs and is playful towards me. I chase her around the flowers and eventually we lift into the air to hug one another. We cast our spells through the woodland around us to welcome our other Faerie friends, and their music fills the night as they emerge to dance in circles and work wonderful magick of the likes that none of us have ever seen. The night favors us, and the fun and experience has just begun.
